David Gottfried, CACT Director, Elected to LifeSciencesNY Board
David Gottfried, Director of the Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology (CACT) and Manager of University Government Relations at Alfred University, has been elected to the Board of Directors of LifeSciencesNY, a Syracuse-based association focused on fostering innovation and helping New York State’s biomedical industry thrive.
Gottfried was elected to the board during Together ’24, LifeSciencesNY’s annual conference held Nov. 13-14 in Rochester. LifeSciencesNY is made up of medical technology, pharmaceutical, and life sciences companies, research and academic institutions, suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers. Members range from startups to established multinationals and include the state’s leading universities and organizations that support the life sciences.
The association connects its member companies, entrepreneurs and academics and boost their success through networking and business development, education, and advocacy, and actively seeks out investment and collaboration opportunities.
In July, Gottfried was elected to the Board of Directors of IncubatorWorks, a private, non-profit business incubator with facilities in Alfred, Corning, and Elmira. The Alfred incubator offers services and facilities to foster growth of entrepreneurial businesses in ceramics, glass, advanced materials, and related technology-based industries. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Rochester Numismatic Association and is treasurer for the Western New York Section of the American Ceramics Society (ACerS).
